(the storage was working well at that time)Ģ. One time when i got home i saw the red lamp over one of the hard drives. My dx4000 12TB storage was working well for a long time.ġ. #WESTERN DIGITAL SENTINEL STARTUP FAILED 0XD9 WINDOWS#
Use Windows Network Troubleshooting at Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> Troubleshooting ->Network and Internet Or if neither ethernet link is connected: Connect this cable to switch on same network as connected link. Connect ethernet cable to disconnected link port.Ģ. Messages in Dashboard -> Monitor -> Details:Įthernet port 2 is disconnected (after previously having two ports simultaneously connected).ġ. It is now behaving like it did out of the box, which is what I wanted. I changed that registry entry and it FINALLY went back to ignoring Ethernet 2 beinc unplugged. Long story short there is a Registry Entry (unique to the WD Sentinel) that controls this behavior (knowing both ports have been connected simultansously at least once, then complaining about it), see below. It still knew Ethernet 2 had been plugged in before and insisted it be connected again. Restart and it will ignore Ethernet 2 like when it was new, then I can change back Ethernet 1 to a static IP. After elevating it, the guy said put Ethernet 1 back to DHCP, let it get a new IP, then unplug Ethernet 2 and shut the machine down. It also caused other odd problems, sluggish Dashboard - monitor, confused my RDP on the LAN, etc.

Every reboot re-enabled the Disabled Ethernet 2, port then the Sentinel complained about the cable being unplugged. Not so fast my friend, still same problem on reboot. No problem I'll just disable Ethernet 2 from the Control Panel. Error messages happened and the warning beep sounded. Everything seemed OK (at first).Īfter my test I tried disconnecting the Ethernet 2 cable. Ethernet 1 is a fixed IP, Ethernet 2 grabbed a new DHCP IP. This morning I tried to conect Ethernet #2, just to see how that functioned, and test it out. It had a static IP, everything worked perfectly. I originally just had one port connected, Ethernet #1. Sharing my DS6100 problem, so others can Google this in the future. (there are thousands of these packets, aside from the time stamp and port number all info is the same all come from the server) I tried to explain this as best I could, hopefully someone has some idea. I'll see the occassional packets from the WCBACKUP but it will not congest the network until a few hours later. If I disconnect the server from the network for a few minutes and plug it back in it will work fine.

My best guess is that its from the service that allows client computers to backup to the server but I cannot figure out why it's congesting the network with hundreds of these packets preventing all other traffic. Does anyone have any idea what may cause this? I've pasted a snippet from the packet capture below. I used Wireshark to capture the packets on my netowrok while experiencing the issue and behold the only packets it picks up are coming from the WD Sentinel server. It seems that after being on the network for several hours it begins to send out traffic through the network causing congestion and all other traffic from my other computers and devices is affected.
